Beef Industry In Poor State
The world beef industry is in poor condition after the European market closed and the Japanese market nearly shut. Secretary Chris Mills of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association warns of global oversupply and rising imports from Australia and New Zealand. He sees low cow prices due to competition from boneless Australian beef and Canadian cow beef, with relief only from import restrictions. He adds that import limits elsewhere turn Canada into a dumping ground, while Midwest corn limits raise grain prices this winter. Feed costs may push production to 60 to 65 cents per pound as a 48 to 50 cent beef market forces cheap sales. Walter Dennis Bieganski completed a telecom course at RCCC Winnipeg on June 28, 1974, eldest son of Walter and [surname], MacGregor, Manitoba.
