Community notice and local life at Maple and beyond
Lintott of Sidney brought in a spud feed last week noting baseball sized potatoes used since July 1. Portage hosted a ball tourney with MacGregor-04 and Fort White beating Plumas in the finals. The Foresters picnic at H Barton's grounds drew a large crowd with kid races, ball games, and horseshoes won by Clarence Sparrow and Frank Hay. A satirical note warns about home liquor economics. A frog sighting near Bill Corrigal’s ripberry bushes and a look at town business growth highlight ten years of modernization. The paper hints at holidays around August 18 19 and notes Hee Shaw’s return from hospital.
