Manitoba to add hail insurance to crop coverage program
Agriculture Minister Sam Uskiw announced amendments to the Manitoba Crop Insurance Act to add field level hail protection alongside the all risk contract. Eligible farmers with an all risk policy as of April 30 1970 on crops they choose will gain hail cover based on actual damage, while overall all risk coverage remains for other natural hazards. Premium rates will be set for agents before the hail sales period.

Canadian Content Programs Too Costly
Murray Chercover of CTV warned at a CRTC hearing that proposed increases in Canadian content would destroy the existing system. He noted private broadcasters lack funds to implement the measures to reach 60 percent TV content and 30 percent Canadian music on AM radio, plus fewer TV ad interruptions and newsroom ad limits. A study by M E Wright estimated the plan could cost CTV profits before taxes between 12.09 million and 13.89 million, against total profits of 9 million for the year ending August 31, 1969.
