Prayers For Peace Easter Observances Worldwide
Easter prayers across the Christian world urged peace in Asia and end to racial and class domination. Pope Paul VI called the MLK assassination a warning as he prayed for Vietnam talks, while in England pacifists marched for nuclear disarmament and an end to the Vietnam War. In Jerusalem pilgrims filled the churches as clashes near the border with Jordan occurred. West Berlin saw violent clashes disrupting Easter parades, and in Prague Bishop Tomasek spoke of renewed religious freedom under a new regime and urged forgiveness.
