Integrated Ag Park Ventures From Lanigan Area Tour

Manitoba farmers toured the integrated agricultural park seven miles east of Lenian Sask to see a three phase concept including a feed mill and cattle feedlot, a piggery, and a lamb feedlot. The project, born from grain carryover pressures, aims to help small farmers market grain locally, create jobs, and sustain crop farming. Funding includes a $154,000 Saskatchewan Economic Development loan and a $42,000 federal area development grant, with $4,000 per shareholder for 55 participants. The $150,000 mill began operations August 14, and the 3,000 head feedlot started accepting cattle in September, employing five people in its first year.
