Engineering activities in the Whitemud Watershed are being curtailed as lawsuits from ratepayers seek damages over drainage actions. Provincial engineer W R Newton said the province faces many claims and will not direct drainage projects until the matter is defined. The Watershed Conservation Districts secretary treasurer noted a pending provincial position within two weeks. Council passed a resolution opposing broader delays due to isolated ratepayer issues.
