Farmers Protest Tractors Hear Yorkton Demonstration

More than 50 tractors rolled through Yorkton in a Thursday protest organized by the Saskatchewan Farmers Union. The march ran from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., ending at a skating rink meeting, amid heavy snow and winds up to 30 miles per hour. SFU regional supervisor Fred Clemence said the goal was to press for fair farm prices and for the Wheat Board to manage feed grain sales, with an April 10 Saskatoon meeting announced and invites sent to Federal Trade Minister Pepper and Agriculture Minister Olson. Three farmers trekked from Rocanville, over 60 miles away, to join the parade.
