Lynden Draft Registry Sees Most Enlistees Native or Naturalized

Three hundred nineteen men registered in Lynden and Lynden township under the draft law. Of 265 in Lynden city and precincts one and two, 228 were native born or naturalized and 26 had first papers while eleven were aliens. In Lynd Township precinct three, 54 registered with seven aliens. A long list of registrants includes Henry Shagren, Frank Bodine, Susan Weidkamp, Ralph Ogoodby, John Taylor, William Le Compte, and many others.

Funeral Rites Held For Norman Sharrard Lynden Youth

Funeral services were held Monday at Knapp's parlors for Norman Sharrard son of Mrs. Anna Sharrard who died at Medical Lake Washington. He was thirteen. The list of local names includes Lynden residents and service members bound for induction. The Ferndale Testing Association reports a 330 pounds of fat per year as the required production for profits, with notes on feed and dairy economics.

Lynden Red Cross Appeals for War Sufferers Garments

The Lynden Red Cross will collect clothing for Belgians and Franco-occupied areas in September. Residents may drop items at the Masonic Hall or local stores. Ed Edson Named Head of Fourth Liberty Loan Drive

Ed Edson appointed captain to direct Lynden sales of the Fourth Liberty Loan drive. A Lynden committee and lieutenant corps announced, with headquarters to be set in the Lauckhart Building. A planning meeting is scheduled Tuesday at eight o clock.

County hunting season opens October with limits and cautions

The season starts October 1 for ruff and blue grouse and native Chinese pheasants. Hungarian pheasants open in 1920, quail later. Mainland deer and goats may be hunted for one month starting October 1. island deer hunting is illegal. Buck deer and goats bag limit is one each. Miscellaneous items accepted include bed textiles and woolen goods for repurposing.
