Peter Van Zee Drowns in Nooksack River
Peter Van Zee, about forty and unmarried, drowned Thursday afternoon in the Nooksack River after slipping from the bank while fishing. Eyewitnesses Pixley and Ecker found his hat and net. Dr. Wood could not revive him. Funeral services were held Saturday with Rev. Brouwer and Rev. Breen officiating. his body was sent to Kalamazoo, Michigan. He had lived in Lynden seven years and worked as a clerk at several local firms.
