Sunrise Community Notes Highlight Local Visits and Events

A series of Sunday calls and visits across the Sunrise area includes Mr. and Mrs. A Simons reaching out to the Austins, the Cogdals and Hilton families visiting neighbors, and multiple residents attending sales, a spelling match, and a Glendale program. Several trips to Lynden Blaine and Blaine business are noted plus a sunlit social week with dinners and gatherings.

Sunshine Triumph In Spelling Match At Glendale

A spelling contest Friday between Sunshine and Glendale ended with Sunshine winning. Local residents visited friends, attended plays, and hosted teachers and students at community gatherings in Laurel and nearby areas. The Laurel team, speakers, and students participated in events at Woodman Hall and the Laurel Baptist Church later that week.

Fairview Birthday Party of W. W. Palmer Marked by Flowers

Mr. W. W. Palmer celebrated his first birthday at his home on March 15 with many relatives in attendance. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Nace, and others. decorations featured young dill and violets. a large birthday cake was centerpiece. George Neidhburt made business trips to Bellingham and Westminster. Woodland School Wins Spelling Match and Eyes County Title

Woodland school defeated Sunrise in a recent spelling contest and plans to face Sunshine this Friday as they prepare for the county championship. Miss Howard attended a Glendale play Saturday evening. Phillip Osbrink recovers from mumps. A shower honored Mabel Willey last Thursday.

Everson Notes On Dedications and Local Visits

Everson reports include the March 15 dedication of the new Presbyterian church with corner stone laying and memorial windows for Harkness McElmon and Gillis family. Jack McInnis and Harry Mack operate a double stage service between Lynden and Bellingham with four daily trips each way. Depart Lynden Blolden Bros. at 7 30, 10 00, 1 30, 4 30 a m. from Bellingham Owl Drug Store at 7 30, 9 30 a m and 2 00, 4 30 p m. Fare round trip is 1 25, same as railroad.
