Ellen Hamre won the 200 prize piano by tipping votes past Katherine Harris with a late surge to 252 250. Harris finished 2 050 votes behind. Other winners included Susie Hickey for a gold watch and Arlie Palmer for a gold watch. The contest boosted Lynden’s Tribune circulation and drew strong local support from the Nooksack valley.

At a Saturday meeting in Jamieson’s opera house the Whatcom County Fair association chose 20 acres west of town for the grounds and appointed Rusco Frasier and Stuart to raise funds. By Tuesday over 80 shares sold. committee aims to clear and park the area and erect buildings. A next Wednesday report will finalize arrangements as Lynden unites for a three mile from the Canadian line fair.

Dodge Funeral for J. W. Dodge in Lynden Cemetery
The remains of J. W. Dodge were buried in Lynden cemetery after a Baptists church funeral. He died suddenly in Starbuck at age 57 while waiting for a train, with apoplexy given as the cause. He leaves a wife and several children.

Miss O'Neil Injured in Friday Depot Accident
Miss Etta O'Neil and Miss Serine Scrimger were injured when their buggy crashed after approaching the depot on Third Street. O'Neil suffered a fractured hip and other injuries and remains in the hospital. Scrimger initially seemed unhurt but later reported pain and possible internal injuries. The horse ran away but was unharmed.
