Bond market may delay Lynden Sumas paving plan
County commissioners at a courtroom hearing warned that difficulty in selling improvement bonds at par could slow paving of the Lynden Sumas road. They noted the Lynden Sumas gap as the county's last hard surface link and said work would proceed if feasible. Cost estimates run to 25 000 per mile, with a 25 cent rise in cement impacting annual expenses. A large group pressed for the Lynden Sumas project and the Delta road gravelling. Bond disposition was left for later decision.
