Captain Frank L. Wood of Lynden describes how the U S Army trains physicians at Fort Riley Kansas. About a thousand medical officers in training, four hours of lectures daily, six to twelve mile daily walks, and special postgrad work in New York. Surgeons accompany regiments, with duties in aid stations and with troops. The army recruited 20 000 doctors to staff the force, with more than half married and many over forty. Three months of military instruction are required to align medical work with tactics and rules. Many surgeons may remain stateside during a prolonged war, while others sail to the front in time.

Lynden city council moves to improve drinking water with settling tanks. They bought a 25 by 160 foot plot from August Dunker at 500 per acre on the ridge behind the Lynden Motor Co. and leased the pumping site from J. Vandekamp for 25 years with annual water payments up to 30. Construction will begin at once using wood framing.

Poultrymen Seek Feed Law Change At Lynden Meeting
Whatcom County poultry and egg producers gathered at the Farmers Institute in Lynden and drafted a petition to Washington Food Administrator Charles Hebbard. They ask to buy unmixed feeds so dry oats can be sprouted and request permission to purchase one tenth of grain in straight wheat to reduce oat waste in scratch feeds.
