Washington State College through the Forestry Department offers trees at low prices to Lynden residents for windbreaks and ornamentals. Catalog lists species and sizes with prices, plus larger trees and black locust seedlings for distribution this season.
Advertisements offer many hens of various ages for sale in the want-ad column and even carloads of hatching eggs. The cost is a quarter. Readers are invited to try placing their own ads.
A large crowd gathered Friday at the Methodist Church to honor the late Mrs John Vanderyacht. Rev E O Grimes conducted the service with interment in Monumenta Cemetery. She died February 7 at Bellingham after a four week illness. Cena Telgenhoff born Zeeland Michigan January 1 1889. She married John Vanderyacht in 1905 Center Lake Michigan and moved to Lynden in 1907. She is survived by her husband son George and daughter Sarah who died in 1910 plus five brothers and three sisters.
Lynden Athletic Association sends its team to Edison on Saturday to face the American Legion squad leading Skagit County Legion League. Local fans are expected to travel to support and witness another possible victory for Lynden.
The Home Guard Girls hosted the Boy Scouts Friday evening February 10 at the J. W. Stearns residence. Attendees played games and were served chocolate, cake, and fruit salad.
Mrs G Rutgers entertained relatives Monday evening in honor of Mr Rutgers 68th birthday anniversary.
Mr and Mrs Roy Mutchler visited Polson Montana this week to visit with Mr Mutchler’s parents Ada and Walter Baldwin hosted a Valentine party with games and a luncheon. The guest list included numerous local residents and neighbors. The notice also states land and tree cutting offerings priced per thousand with specific species listed.
Victor H Hoppe will perform a reading of The Fortune Hunter at Lynden High School auditorium Friday evening to raise funds for the grade school hot lunch program. He will play all parts in the comedy, drawing a large crowd with 35 cent tickets for adults and 20 cents for children.

Suggestions include keeping roads open after storms, clearing box approaches, using stamped mail, carrying postage funds, and ensuring boxes display owners' names. Lynden High School captured the county pennant with an 11–0 boys record and a 6–4 girls mark. Both teams finished strong, beating Ferndale in Lynden on Friday. boys led 9–4 at halftime and 29–17 final, while the girls won 16–2 as Ferndale scored late in the game.
Lynden grade school basketball teams meet Blaine squads Friday in a scheduled contest at Blaine.
The Ladies' Altar Society invites guests to a dancing party at Odd Fellows Hall Friday evening. Promises are made of fine features and a delightful occasion, expected to be among the year’s best events.
Charles Bechtel and Walter Baldwin purchase the Axlund Service Station repair department and set up the B B Garage as a separate business. The Axland Shop will handle gasoline and oils with repairs by Mr Axland, and improvements are planned for motorists’ convenience.

Miss Ione Shumway hosts a Friday birthday party for a group including Dorothy and Margaret Elder Bessie Noteboom Mabel Crosier Minnie and Hilda Brune and others. The Breed family now resides at 106 6th Street Le Claire. Mrs P Schuyleman celebrates a birthday with relatives Friday. Miss Jessica De Line teaching at Winlock Wash returns home for a visit of two weeks. Miss Edith Sargent remains quite ill.
News from Lynden reports a possible Milwaukee railroad toward Lynden. W H Waples returned from Seattle where he handled business and rode Elk’s goat with twenty Whatcom County gentlemen. W K Pixley sold his Lynden Manufacturing stake to Nick Boerhave. J P Boerhave of Lynden Department Store ill at home with la grippe. Lynden Department Store adds a 5 and 10 cent counter and received buggies and agricultural implements. Robert E Hawley wed Ida Irene Long at the Ryther home in South Bellingham.
Mrs. W. B. Vander Griend and her daughters spent Monday visiting the Gehrman home in Ferndale, sharing a day of family gathering.

The Canadians are City League champions and undefeated this season. The prior Tuesday the Lynden team beat an Alaska Business College all star squad 24 to 22 in Bellingham.
Blaine School Directors invite Pleasant Valley Birch Bay and Haynie districts to send scholars to Blaine High School with guaranteed 2000 days of attendance and free transportation. If attendance increases to $2500 revenue, Blaine will provide free books. Minor deposits set to cover book misuse. Also notes Ernest Meenk improving in Hanford hospital and lists assorted consumer items with manufacturer liability.
