Lynden schools topped county institutions in Christmas seal sales and in supporting the Astoria relief fund. The county superintendent’s report shows $84.54 in seal sales from local schools and $21.16 raised for Astoria aid in nickels and pennies.

The Kate Canning Co of Everson shipped the last of their immense bean pack last week. Over 142 tons of beans were packed into 4931 cases of No 2 and 5493 cases of No 10. A net price of two and one half cents a pound was paid to the grower. Their pack of local fruits and vegetables reached 34000 cases, good for a bad berry year. $41300 was paid to local growers for fruit, $22000 spent for labor, $5131 for box shocks and $2196 for local freight. Plans call for next year to pack the largest amount in the cannery’s history, with a bumper berry crop outlook. It may also can other vegetables besides beans.
Mrs E Breen entertained on Christmas Day with a dinner for Mr and Mrs John Breen and family, Mr and Mrs J De Jager and family, Misses Matilda and Helena De Valois, and Miss Tena Vander Griend.
Mrs. William Benthien of Alger and her children George and Phyllis spent last week visiting her mother Mrs. Lena Wilson and brother Henry Wilson and family in town.

Miss Gladys Stuurmans Johanna Schuyleman and Marie Le Compte, students at the Bellingham Normal, return home for vacation.
Lynden high school teacher Martha Kelly is spending her vacation at her Seattle home.
Mr and Mrs Sutherland and their daughters Eckel and Florence plan a Friday evening visit to Orcas Island during this week’s school vacation.
At the Hickey home Christmas dinner guests included Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hickey and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hickey with three children from Weiser Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Sooter of Ten Mile, and Ernest Miller of Lynden.
Mr Bert Pangborn of Mineral Washington is visiting his sister Mrs Mary Swim and other relatives in Lynden as he spends time away from home.
Miss Alice Bouman left Saturday for Everett Washington to spend Christmas with friends, visiting relatives in the city and planning return next week.
Mr. Jake Haveman arrived in Lynden to join his family here.
Bob Lowrey owned seven cows and placed a Tribune want-ad to retire. He sold the seven at his price to the first buyer, saying he could have sold seventeen more if needed as the calls were numerous.
Lynden poultrymen attend the Whatcom County Poultry School at Meridian High School directed by H. B. Carroll Jr. Extension experts from the State College lead sessions on incubation, hatching and egg production. Tomorrow features talks by W. D. Buchanan, Dr. W. T. Johnson and A. D. Foster with a noon lunch and a 3:15 PM close.
Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Palmer entertained at dinner Sunday with guests including Mr. and Mrs. Jack Langdale and three children of Vancouver British Columbia, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Satterthwaite, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Satterthwaite of Concrete, Mr. and Mrs. David Hintz and daughter of Vancouver, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Lancing of Bellingham, and Janie, Wilfred and Jack Brassell of Vancouver. The Brassell children will remain with the Palmers until after New Year’s Day.
Mertha Bostwick entertained the Queen Esthers at her home on Wednesday evening. Guests dressed as little girls and a delightful supper was served during the gathering with festive, playful atmosphere.

Mrs John Berger Sr. sustained a deep cut to her hand when a butcher knife slipped Sunday. She received first aid and was treated for the injury.

The Whatcom County Dairymen's Association foresees 1922 sales exceeding 1.5 million dollars as manager C. C. Davis reports butter production of 2.9 million pounds and powdered milk at 1.89 million pounds. Lynden leaders Crabtree and Jacobsen named for director, election in January. The New Year message urges bankers and communities to support dairy expansion and diversification.

Matter Family Moves Mr H Matter and family have moved from the Fred Fisher place and are now living in the John Pilon house on Front Street.
Des Moines Washington residents Mr and Mrs Earl Bixby arrived in Lynden on Tuesday to spend the week with relatives.

The Lynden High School Alumni Association will hold a reunion at the I O O F Hall on Saturday evening December 30. The evening will feature cards games and dancing as entertainment.
Lynden high school boys overwhelm Ferndale 90 to 55 as Ferndale makes only four field goals. Lynden shows strong team play and defense. Ferndale’s girls lose 22 to 14 in the same card. Lynden meets Mt. Baker on January 12 at Mt. Baker.

Miss Alice Riewald, guest at the Hovinga home, was struck along the depot road Saturday evening by an automobile driven by Peter Kragt. She suffered several head wounds and other cuts, described as quite serious.

A large crowd is expected for the Lynden Athletic Association versus Adanac Club of New Westminster game at 8:00 p m in the high school gymnas ium. The Atlantic Club features players from last year and Mohawk Club, seeking revenge for last season’s 38 to 32 defeat. Lynden had a scheduling mix up and missed Blaine last Tuesday, but will meet Blaine’s last high school team next Wednesday. The Lynden girls meet Meridian girls as a preliminary.
Word was received of the death of John Stedman of Bellingham, formerly from Lynden.
The seven year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Vander Berg accidentally drank a cupful of gasoline last week. She remains under a doctor's care.
Christmas services at the Methodist Episcopal Church featured special music in the morning with pieces Good Tidings Thee We Adore and The Herald Angels Sing. Choir directed by Mrs L C Wright with pianist Mrs M H King. Several requests were made to repeat the morning music next Sunday.

The Whatcom County Dairymen’s Association held a jubilee showing dairy success. Butter production for the year neared 1500 tons and dairy product sales reached about 1.5 million dollars, with half generated in the county. The co operative marketing approach is praised as a farm solution. President Harding’s support of cooperative marketing is noted.
Old Santie Claus delighted Lynden residents with generous gifts and a busy post office as Harry Mack and his reindeer delivered more packages than ever. Despite cold weather slowing trade for a week, merchants saw generally larger sales than in 1921.
Six Lynden men including Joe Shoop Carl L Boice George Abbott and Lawrence Asam were arrested on dip net violations of a law restricting personal salmon catches from the Nooksack while canneries can take them by the ton. They pleaded Not Guilty and were jailed for a hearing set by Judge Ed Hardin. Two others Steve Woudenberg and Joe Elenhaas pleaded guilty and were fined ten dollars and costs. The Lynden district and local lawyers plan a legal fight arguing the law unfairly targets individuals while canneries profit from large scale catches.

Lynden residents will receive a mailed community calendar created by local business and professional men. The calendar, a green folder with a Western scene, includes dates, farm records, monthly highlights, tax data, weather forecasts, and farm guidance. Committee members were W. H. Trump, J. W. Stearns, and F. E. Knapp.
A large Palmer family gathering filled the G A R Hall on Monday. Six siblings W W Palmer S L Palmer Mrs F A Rogers M F Palmer and George Palmer joined children grandchildren and great grandchildren for a day of reunion.
