Christmas seal sale gains pace as drive expands nationwide

With the first week closed the campaign has sold at least 7.5 million health seals. County managers have re ordered supplies as Washington TB Association expedites restocking. Schoolchildren join the effort urging residents to buy a five seal quota to support tuberculosis work.

The Lynden Producers Canning Company shipped 650 cases of Lynden raspberries and Lynden pears to London, England, bought by Morrison Jones Co Limited. The fruit, loaded on the S S Texan at South Bellingham, will go direct to England from Bellingham. D W Bender oversees the cannery efforts to keep fruit from freezing amid stored cases as stoves warm the building.

Whatcom County Cow Testing Association Moves Ahead

Whatcom County launches a cost efficient cow testing program under H B Carroll Jr with Guy Anderson as tester. The group formed November 28 with 120 members and 1400 cows aims to test about 1500 cows starting January 2 at 1.25 dollars per cow per year, urging dairy men to join for lower production costs.

Funeral services for Carl Elsner of Lynden

A large Lynden district crowd gathered at Knapp’s Parlors on Tuesday for the funeral of Carl Elsner who died Friday evening after a brief illness. Born in Germany September 10 1858 he immigrated to the United States and settled in Lynden in 1899. He married Emily Hagemeister in 1882 and leaves twelve children and a widow. He was active in the M W A Camp 5527.

Lynden Club Formed by Bellingham Residents

The Lynden Club, formed by seven Lynden couples, held its first meeting at J. A. Worthington’s home in Bellingham. Charter members include B. H. Loring, R. H. Plaster, William Terry, Archie Stewart, Carl Rathman, J. A. Worthington, and Milford Benjamin. The group will meet every two weeks to play five hundred.
