A Red Cross chart shows 118 of 266 Lynden grade school pupils underweight due to malnutrition or insufficient exercise. Superintendent William A. Fisher cites diet and physical development as causes and notes the state requirement of twenty minutes daily exercise to improve growth.
Walter Pixley resigns after years as Lynden water department head to devote full attention to Lynden Welding and Manufacturing Company. He will run the pump until a new superintendent is named as Har ry Saltzgaber plans to move back to Bellingham.
Neil Taylor and Arthur Stierlen, Lynden residents, were discharged in San Francisco last Friday after long U S Navy service. They traveled from Europe aboard the U S 8 Baltimore, via the Panama Canal, with layovers in Honduras and Costa Rica. Taylor served as a first class fireman on the Baltimore while Stierlen served on the Olympia and did convoy duty in Archangel aboard a Russian destroyer.
The Service Garage has accepted the Overland agency and will handle sales of this popular car in the district A new light touring car to stir automotive circles will be on display at the Garage around December 20 Thanksgiving dinner at the F L Wood home honored Mr and Mrs Mark Hammond of Bellingham Mr and Mrs P M Serrurier Mrs Sass Miss Emma Bennett and Mr Harold Wood a nephew of Dr Wood recently discharged from the Second Overseas Ammunition Train Wood drove a Packard ammunition truck and recounted adventures including a runaway engine and brakes failing on a three mile grade with a full ammunition load
Reverend Myron Cooley hosted a group of visitors including Mr. and Mrs. John Sahlboom and several Burlington residents, E. D. Barden of Lyman, and Miss Ethel Liming, formerly of Lynden, who has been doing rescue work in Eastern Washington, staying with her parents in Bellingham and visiting Mrs. Howard Worthen on Saturday.
Judge J. A. Kellogg of Bellingham will deliver an eight o clock talk on Americanism vs Bolshevism at Lynden High School auditorium, with a musical prelude and under American Legion auspices. W. H. Waples leads a local committee in promoting the event, stressing a nationwide conspiracy to overthrow constitutional government and urging citizen attendance. The free address, Monday night, aims to inform the public of the issue facing Americans.
Lynden Washington cream judged best in the Western Dairy Products Show in Portland. Clarence M. Vander Griend's exhibit named best from eleven Western states including Washington and Idaho. B C Vander Griend took second and S T Jackman third. Lynden cream from Guernsey stock tested by Whatcom County Cow Testing Association.
During November six deaths were recorded in Lynden per local registrar Miss Tilda Tromp. The deceased include Willis Case John Slate maker Mrs Aurelia Vander Heide Mrs Bertha De Beeld Mrs Fred Cole and Orion Robinson, the three week old son of Mr and Mrs J R Robinson. Nine births were registered.
The Lynden Chapter of the Eastern Star was entertained by the Bellingham Chapter at the Aftermath Clubhouse last evening. Guests enjoyed cards and dancing during the social gathering.

Lynden residents will witness Burnell Ford, famed scientist and inventor, demonstrate extraordinary electric feats at the Lynden High School auditorium on Thursday. He will perform wireless submarine chasers, lighting, explosions, and other demonstrations once believed deadly, drawing from his Edison laboratories experience and carrying six demonstration trunks. Miss Ella Mutchler daughter of Mr and Mrs R E Mutchler and Mr Harry Beernink were married Tuesday morning at ten o clock at the residence of Frank Le Cocq justice of the peace. The ceremony was performed in the presence of relatives. They left for Victoria Vancouver and Seattle and will be at home in a new bungalow on Third Street after January 1.
Mr and Mrs Fred Rinehart and Miss Cecile Rinehart traveled from Burlington last Wednesday to spend Thanksgiving at home.

Washington State College President Dr. E O Holland will speak at Lynden High School auditorium next Thursday at 2 PM. He is touring the state and will give one talk in the county, with admission free. County agent H B Carroll Jr oversees the visit.
The wedding of Miss Alice Louise Smith of Seattle and G T Geyer of Lynden was held in Assumption Church Bellingham on Thanksgiving Day. Father Barrett officiated with J Lawrence Geyer as best man and Elizabeth Stephan as bridesmaid. Miss Smith taught in Spokane and served at the Seattle Depot of the Quartermaster Corps.
Twelve Lynden women received medals from the National League for Women's Service in recognition of war work. Eleven bronze medals and one silver were presented to H. M. Mock D. L. Beckes H. H. Ralph Dunker was kicked by a horse Friday leaving his left forearm badly bruised. He required minor medical attention but is expected to recover fully.
