Fair Opens Six Day Run At Panhandle South Plains Fair

The Panhandle South Plains Fair in Lubbock opens at 9 a.m. with a six day run expected to draw a record 250 600 attendees by October 2. Parade of Bands features 29 area high schools and six host city bands. Livestock entries include a record 516 swine and 236 cattle. A. B. Davis, fair manager since 1924, is hospitalized with a heart condition. Other features include Holiday On Ice on area school day with multiple shows, Rocket Belt demonstrations by Bell Aerosystems, and Gemini and Lunar Module models on display.

Viet Cong Execute Two Captured Americans

The Viet Cong reportedly shot two captured Americans Sunday morning in reprisal for South Vietnam's earlier executions of three Communist sympathizers. Rusk Heads to New York for Talks with Gromyko
