Three Victims Die In Flaming Wreck North Of Hale Center
Three people died in a late night head on crash three miles north of Hale Center on the Lubbock Plainview road. A Chevrolet coupe carried one victim identified as Avis Nivens about 29 of Hale Center. The other three occupants burned in a Ford pickup and were not yet identified at 2:30 a m. Investigators expected a prolonged identification, with notes that the victims may be itinerant workers from Raymondville. The bodies were taken to Roy Woods Funeral Home in Plainview.

Amarillo Couple Killed and Husband Injured in Wreck East of Des Moines
Mrs. Inez Gibbs Lindsay about 45 and her husband Horace R. Lindsey about 55 from Amarillo were killed and injured when their automobile overturned multiple times and plunged into the Deep Grande arroyo eight miles east of Des Moines on Highway 87. Burglaries And Thefts Probed Weekend police report highlights
Several thefts and an alleged assault were noted as police opened weekend investigations. The Auction Barn at 511 Thirteenth Street reported tools and apparel stolen worth 196.75, missing shears and barber gear valued at 93.50, and other items. A window entry was suspected. Dillard Found Guilty of Murder and Five Year Term
Brewster E. Dillard was found guilty of murder with malice and sentenced to five years by the 99th district court jury.
