Murphy declared sane to face Whisky Creek murders trial
Psychiatric evaluators at South Florida Hospital concluded Jack Murph y known as Murf the Surf is sane and able to stand trial for the Whisky Creek killings of two secretaries. Judge L Clayton Nance and Judge Carling Stedman were informed of the report which states Murphy understands the charges and the difference between right and wrong. Murphy and co defendant Jack Griffith face the December 8 slayings of Annalie Marie Mohn and Terry Rae Prank. Griffith is Murphy's longtime associate and Murphy previously served time for the Star of India jewel theft. A prior ruling found Murphy incompetent to stand trial on a separate Dade County robbery case. The trial date was moved after a motion for a continuance. a hearing is set for Monday.

The cast features Lynda Sudduth as Maria Bill Lyall as Captain Von Trapp Judy Keyes as Elsa and Dorothy Pijan as Mother Abbess with a large supporting lineup through Sept 24 28 including a Sunday matinee.
