Maine Man Recaptured in Bangor State Hospital Escape Case
A Maine mental hospital escapee who abducted the heiress wife of a prominent Maine physician was arrested at gunpoint Friday night. His captive was released unharmed five hours earlier. Troopers found Roger R. Haller asleep under a picnic table, wrapped in a blanket, and he offered no resistance. Mrs. Lynn Pierce McGinn, 28, of Arrington, walked into the same bar briefly after 9:50 p.m. Haller, a Korean War veteran, had escaped from Bangor State Hospital the previous Saturday and had been hunted by a large posse in the Belgrade Lakes region. She was spotted driving her life savings white sedan.
