California Brush Fires Near Sierra Madre Brought Under Control
Two Los Angeles area fires, one near Sierra Madre and another to the east in the San Gabriel Canyon, were declared under control Friday night. The larger blaze burned about 800 acres, forced 800 residents to evacuate briefly, and was contained after cooler weather and humidity aided firefighting efforts.
