Plane Crash Kills Eight Near Denver in Utah Flight Route

An Air Force C-123 cargo plane crashed and burned west of Denver killing all eight aboard. The six crewmen and two passengers were found inside the wreckage at about 9,600 feet near Berthoud Pass. The aircraft, last heard from leaving Lowry AFB Denver for Hill AFB Utah, belonged to Tactical Air Command and was based at Pope AFB North Carolina.

Earth Tremor Shakes Anchorage Alaska

A sharp earth tremor jolted Anchorage for about 20 seconds causing no damage. The tremor struck at 4 46 p m AST and was followed by several aftershocks. The quake’s epicenter could not be determined.
