In Dallas a Texas stock fraud trial halted mid testimony as defendant John Osorio consulted privately with Judge Sarah T. Hughes. Osorio’s lawyer warned Will Wilson would be mentioned repeatedly. Back Injury Forces Wilson Hospital Care

Assoc Atty Gen Will Wilson, head of the criminal division, has been in a Washington area hospital all week for tests on a back injury of undisclosed origin. A Justice Department spokesman confirmed he was admitted last Monday and will return to work Monday. The hospital remains unnamed.

Mayor appeals for calm as gunfire erupts in Lubbock

Three separate shootings Friday night kept police busy as Lubbock imposed a dusk to dawn curfew. Mayor Jim Granberry urged calm while authorities arrested three suspects in connection with the sniper wound of Officer Russell McKenzie. A tank responding to a call fired upon flushed residents from a home on 15th Street and Quirt Avenue, and a two shot .22 pistol was recovered. Officers described a loud bang and possible explosion as the tank moved through the Weber Drive area. City Jail crowded with curfew violators, including women with infants and a 15 year old boy. The curfew and review of the situation will be discussed at noon.

Lubbock Curfew Declared and Rumor Service Established

Lubbock City Council imposed a general dusk to dawn curfew and set up a rumor service at the Emergency Operation Center. Mayor Granberry said city officials will investigate rumors about violence and advise residents. the office has fielded many calls seeking curfew clarification.

Three Month Siege Flood Toll in North Vietnam

Saigon reports almost three months of severe floods in North Vietnam have caused massive disruption and potential casualties.
