Hoffa travel validation for Vietnam revoked by State
Secretary of State William Rogers canceled the passport travel validation for former Teamsters chief James Hoffa to Hanoi over irregularities in how the clearance was issued. The move followed concerns Rogers cited about technical procedural problems and the improper involvement of a State Department employee in the original authorization. Hoffa, released on parole last year after prison for jury tampering and mail fraud, had sought authority to go abroad to aid negotiations for war prisoner releases.
