Halley’s Comet to Return in 1985 Downgraded Brightness
University of Arizona astronomer Elizabeth Roemer says Halley’s 1985 apparition will be much less spectacular than the 1910 sighting. She notes a greater earth-sun distance, a different orbital position, and a shorter tail, with best naked-eye viewing in late 1985.
