Lubbock area police report no immediate suspects or leads in the stabbing death of a Levelland nurse. The incident prompts ongoing investigations as officials review evidence and interview witnesses.
U.S. helicopters shuttle South Vietnamese infantry into western Quang Tri as more American units, including armor and artillery, back the new operation. Reports say the effort may rival Lam Son 719, with B52 bombings aimed at Communist positions and ongoing combat losses on both sides.
A Lubbock teenager, Eva Salazar, 19, died after a two car crash at South U S 87 and Loop 280 Sunday evening. Her sister Betty Salazar, 18, was injured and treated at Methodist Hospital. The other driver, Manford Frank Anderson, 40, was uninjured. Police described a northbound collision that sent the Salazar car overturning after scraping a guard rail.
