One of the missing trio was found on a lakeshore. National Guard troops fired into the air and bayoneted whites to repel mobs as about 200 civil rights demonstrators faced brick and bottle attacks during a two hour march through Cicero. Police and guardsmen halted a potential riot with shoot to kill orders, while arrests topped thirty. CORE leader Robert Lucas praised the march yet criticized delayed Guard action.
More than 5 500 South Korean troops arrive in Viet Nam aboard three U S transport ships, joining six nations’ forces in Nha Trang. The White Horse Division’s first large contingent lands as the rest of the division and support units follow. Viet Cong clashes in the Mekong Delta leave 276 guerrillas killed and 11 captured as U S and Vietnamese forces push operations.

After 32 years of searching, Darlene Davis of Lubbock and her father were reunited Sunday morning in Roscoe, Texas. Davis had been separated from her father at age four and had also searched for her sister. The reunion stemmed from Davis's son Tommy Davis meeting Jim Reed in Roscoe who then connected his mother with her father, Logan Kinnison, in Nebraska where he works as a postal worker.
The father traced his daughter across states from Roscoe to Billings Montana and Lubbock Texas. He traveled to reunite with her and their first moments together were quiet and stunned. They plan to locate the second daughter reported in Florida and Colorado.
