A lone Mexican American bandit armed with a .22 revolver escaped with over 100 dollars from the Stalter Bros. Seven-Eleven at 1902 34th Street after the owner G C Stalter fired at him as he fled. Police searched the area without success. The store owner chased the robber after he demanded cash and packed the bills into a paper sack.

Youth hijack attempt on Eastern jet foiled in Miami
A 20 year old refugee Juan Miguel Borges Guerra tried to hijack an Eastern Airlines jet en route to Havana. He was overpowered by crew and passengers after slashing three crewmen with a sharpened screwdriver. Injured were three crew members and Captain Newt Edwards. The plane landed near Miami International Airport where FBI agents detained Guerra. He claimed to want to join family in Cuba and expressed hatred of the United States.
