Deaths mount in Sunday traffic crashes in Lubbock

Pablo Olivarez a 33 year old Shallowater area resident died at the scene after being struck on North Ave M by a car driven by Martin Nieto Flores. Flores tried to stop but could not avoid the collision. Eleven others were injured in separate crashes on East 19th Street. Authorities noted this raises the year’s fatal traffic toll to nine in Lubbock and 76 on the Plains for 1964. Funeral services were pending for Olivarez, a laborer and longtime Lubbock resident. He leaves two children, a son and a daughter, his mother Ramona Olivarez, sisters, and a half-brother.
