A 32 year old divorced father and his 13 year old girl companion tell police of a cross country crime spree that included four robberies and three murders netting only 16 dollars. They describe abducting and killing victims in Illinois Missouri and Texas before ending near Big Spring. The pair face murder charges and the girl may be prosecuted when she comes of age.
In Angelo Texas an 18 year old mother Bess Inman is charged with assault with intent to murder after stabbing her nine month old daughter in the chest and cheek and attempting suicide with pills amid a custody dispute with the father.
A vigorous cold front from the Rockies moved toward Texas threatening the Labor Day weekend with showers and storms on the South Plains.
