Ex convict arrested in kidnapping case of Canute girl
Ten year old Karen Dye of Canute Oklahoma, reported stolen Monday, was found Thursday on a bus in Vega Texas in shock and possibly starved. James Durham an Alabama ex convict admitted taking the girl to Tucumcari New Mexico and planning to return her to Oklahoma. U S District Attorney B Andrew Potter authorized a complaint charging kidnapping with possible death penalty. The girl, to be examined at Amarillo hospital before returning home, was located by Washita County deputies after being described as starved and in shock.

A Citizens Committee of about 50 Latin-Americans plans to picket the Delta Plains School registration at 9 a.m. today to protest a zoning plan that would place 115 Negro and 90 Latin-American students there and zero Anglos.
