Bennett English, on his final run with Baltimore Transit Co after 45 years, began shift at 5 am on virus No. 34. Despite advice to rest, he drove No. 35, then his bus veered and he died six minutes into the route before picking up passengers. He had reached retirement age of 65. See Death Page 10.
Thousands of Texas Tech alumni and families gathered on campus for a two day Homecoming celebrating the school's 40th anniversary.
