Blind skaters find thrill in first ice lesson

AL DOZEN youngsters who are blind begin a new program in Lubbock sponsored by the Lubbock Counseling Service for the Blind. The first ice skating session was led by Roxanne Maxcy at the Island Skating Rink with guidance from instructors, part of lessons in ice skating, tap dancing, ballet, and swimming.

Four zoning cases heard and one way street approved

City commissioners rejected two zoning requests for College Avenue area while upholding the Planning and Zoning Commission on another. A one way street extension east from College Avenue to Main Street was approved. Bids totaling 19 913.20 were approved for five cars a loader and electrical items along with various paving improvements and a school speed zone near 42nd and Boston.

Heavy Rain Floods Southwest Texas Rivers
