Smyer Man Fatally Hurt In Traffic
An 80 year old Smyer man was killed Saturday after walking into the path of a pickup on the Levelland Highway near Carlisle. J E Hinson, resident of the Lubbock-Hockley area for 36 years, died at Lubbock Memorial Hospital at 3 05 p m. He was struck by Earl Fournier who swerved but could not avoid the collision. Funeral services set for Tuesday at Silver Baptist Church with burial in Tech Memorial Park. Survived by wife Bobbie Mac and six daughters and five sons plus many grandchildren. A separate Plainview pedestrian death raised the area traffic toll. Page 14.

Burglars struck Bob's Day and Night Grocery at 2104 Ave Q on Friday night or Saturday morning, taking 153 dollars in cash from a metal box. A prior theft at the store involved a broken safe.
