Four Turkish hijackers gave up lateMonday and freed over 60 hostages after 38 hours aboard a Boeing 707 at Sofia airport. They handed their weapons to Bulgarian authorities and sought political asylum in Bulgaria, while Turkey refused to release 13 leftist prisoners. The incident sparked a Bulgaria Turkey dispute over responsibility for passenger safety.
Four grade school children and their teacher on a biology field trip discovered the partially decomposed body of 31 year old Larry Sunderland in MacKenzie State Park. Sunderland, a Texas Tech student from Lubbock, had been dead several days from a gunshot wound. Police recovered a .22 rifle and related items, with services pending at Resthaven-Singleton-Wilson Funeral Home.

Geniese active in 4 H for six years leads in food nutrition clothing and leadership while Max a West Texas State freshman has shown animals at major shows and aims to become a veterinarian. AP report says a grain elevator explosion in Clovis fatally injured Pedro Sandoval and injured four others. Welding work was suspected. grain dust ignition cited. Sandoval died en route to Albuquerque hospital. others listed in fair condition at Clovis Memorial Hospital.
President aide Henry Kissinger returned to Washington after five days of talks with South Vietnamese leader Nguyen Van Thieu.
