Mitchell Gets Exploration in Southwest Kent County Oil Basin
An oil discovery is indicated in southwest Kent County at Texaco No. 1 D P Strayhorn planned 8,000 foot Ellenburger wildcat 17 miles southwest of Clairemont. Gas flowed to the top in eight minutes with 270 feet oil, 180 feet heavy mud, 410 feet mud cut oil, and 390 feet salt water. Initial pressure 3,500 psi, flowing pressure 150 450 psi, final shut in 3,168 psi. Nearby wildcats and reentries are noted in Mitchell and King counties with potential gas shows and progress on existing pools.
