Markets Dip On Slow Trading As Dow Sags
New York stocks declined in slow trading led by blue chips and chemicals. the Dow Jones industrial average fell 3.14 to 598.35, while Polaroid and Texas Instruments dropped sharply. Autos and steels held some strength but overall volume slid with 427 advances and 549 declines. Brunswick Corp led activity with a gain on 750 shares.
