Lamar Hunt, Dallas oilman and Kansas City Chiefs owner, will headline the 11th annual Texas Tech Century Club Dinner on October 29 at the University Center as part of Homecoming. The Century Club funds Tech programs through the Loyalty Fund with memberships of 100 dollars yearly. Hunt, 39, Eldorado, Arkansas native and H. L. Hunt’s son, is a noted sports philanthropist.

Walters Shot Down After Takeover On Rural Road

Ted Walters a 58 year old Bonnie and Clyde era gangster died on a rural road between Dallas and Fort Worth after a Texas Ranger shot him during a hostage incident. A Dallas girl Etta Mae Compton was forced to drive and recounts Walters halted the car and opened fire before being shot. The officer was unhurt and Walters was later killed in the confrontation.
