Mock Disaster Drill Set For Lubbock At 7 P.M.

Sirens will sound for three minutes at 7 p m as 1000 to 1500 volunteers join a simulated disaster exercise in Lubbock. The drill tests local disaster plans with a tornado scenario and a mock reports of a funnel cloud moving toward the city.

Chicago Man Sets Parking Fine Record at $4665

Frank Saraceno 72 was fined 4665 for amassing 233 parking ticket citations in Chicago during 1980 and 1941. Police used an electronic system to flag the record and Saraceno agreed to pay 200 this week and 200 monthly until the debt is cleared.

Jetliner lands after takeoff breakover scare in Los Angeles

An American Airlines jet landed safely at Los Angeles International after reporting lost rubber on takeoff from New York. Flight 9 carried 52 passengers and seven crew with crash crews on standby. Plea for traffic light precedes fatal intersection tragedy

Fort Lauderdale suburb Ranch Lakes resident Dr. John Damron urged a traffic light at a busy A1A intersection on Oct 12 1961.
