A slow eastward moving low pressure trough from West Texas brought more clouds than rain across Texas. Temperatures stayed pleasant, with 74 degrees in Amarillo and 93 in Presidio. Western central Texas had cloudy to partly cloudy skies while East and South Texas were mostly cloudy. Rain totals for 21 hours ending 6 p.m. included 1.15 inches in Midland area, 1.06 in Fort Stockton, .12 in Wichita Falls, .05 in Amarillo, .03 in Mineral Wells, and .01 in Victoria. Light showers were reported at Cotulla, Alice, San Antonio, and Waco.

A bright X shaped fireball, orange red to green, flashed through the night sky over a 150 mile radius of Lubbock on Wednesday. FAA officials in Lubbock called it an extra bright meteor. Reports came from Amarillo, Abilene, Reese AFB, Denver City, Brownfield, Shallowater, Littlefield, Springlake, Sudan and Levelland. Observers timed the sighting 7:30 to 7:40 p.m. Some thought it a flaming plane. one resident said it may have hit ground.
