Soldiers Train in Germany and Earn Rifle Expert Badges
City area soldiers from Lubbock Plainview Spur and nearby towns took part in four weeks of field training in Germany with the 6th Infantry and 4th Armored Division. Timberlake and Robinson arrived overseas in 1939 and 1959 respectively and earned roles as communications and radio operators. Other recruits from Plainview and Spur qualified as M-1 rifle experts at Ft. Riley with the 13th Infantry, while several men enlisted at Amarillo and were sent to Ft. Hood for basic training and assignments.

Boy 13 Found Dead At Home In Nude Suspected Suffocation
In Bartlesville Oklahoma a 13 year old boy Curtis Lee Renfro was found dead at home while his family were away. A plastic bag covered his head and his nude body was found with hands tied between his legs. Police say no marks of violence and he apparently suffocated. Neighbors saw visitors to the Renfro home during the 45 minutes the family was out. The twin sisters Suzette and Suzanne Renfro discovered the body.

Kashmir Moves to Prevent Floods With Dredgers
