Four Month Old Johnnie Watkins Dies in Suspected Suffocation
Four month old Johnnie Wayne Watkins, son of Mrs Edna Watkins of Sunray, died late Saturday from suspected suffocation after entanglement in a bed cover while mother slept nearby. The mother, a waitress in a Lubbock cafe, said she awoke about 6 oclock to find the infant in distress and an ambulance transported him to West Texas Hospital where the physician said he had been dead about 30 minutes. Mrs Watkins has two other children.

Coffee Rationing Fears Return As Stockpiles Fall
The OPA warned coffee rationing could resume within 24 hours if shipments from Latin America do not increase. Meadow Man Dies In Action In France
Mrs. Miles Ed Evans of Route 1 Meadow learns her husband serving with the Army in France was killed in action on September 1. Survived by his wife, six month old son Miles Ed Jr who he never met, his parents in Meadow, four sisters and one brother in Ropes Wille, another Evans brother in the U S Navy, and Mrs Evans with their son live with her parents in Meadow. Evans had been overseas since February 1, 1944 and would have marked four years in service January 15. He spent two years ten months at Fort Sill Oklahoma and three months in California before going overseas.
