Denver AP The National League of Cities the nation’s largest group of city officials urged Jimmy Carter to form a Council of Urban Advisers and push a 10 billion dollar economic stimulus with 3.5 billion in public works funds to lift sagging city fortunes. The group declined to back tax cuts and 3,000 delegates convened for the Congress of Cities. Mayor Hans Tanzler noted 15 billion in programs sought after 2.1 billion was approved for public works last summer.

Gunmen Hit Two Firms In Lubbock Robberies
Gunmen struck two Lubbock firms within three hours marking the fifth and sixth robberies in seven days. At 9 45 p m Sunday three youths held up Town and Country at 19th Street and Avenue P striking the attendant with bread when he failed to fill a money sack quickly enough.
