Swedish financier Axel Wenner-Gren dies at 80 in Stockholm
Axel Leonard Wenner-Gren known as the Swedish Sphinx of international finance died at Res Cross Hospital in Stockholm at 80 after cancer. He built Electrolux and a large corporate empire from vacuum cleaners to rail systems and diet pills and donated millions to science and health causes in Sweden and the U.S. He was married in 1914 to Marguerite Gauntier of Kansas City with no children.
