Israel moves to block Syrian troops advance at border
TEL AVIV AP Israel sent more troops and tanks to the Lebanese border as Syrian armored units in Lebanon pressed toward Tel Aviv’s red line. An Arab League spokesman said plans were being readied for a mored Syrian push south from Sidon toward Tyre and Nabatiyeh, with occupation of Lebanon possibly within 48 hours. Tyre and Nabatiyeh lie near the red line north of Israel.
