Avalanche-Journal staff recalls a chaotic Holiday Inn count night when clerk Jim Swicegood was robbed and shot during a $200 hold up. He describes the assailants forcing cash drawer access and taking his wallet while police arrived at the scene.
The AIQON report says 166 Viet Cong were killed in a clash near the Cambodian border as U S and Vietnamese forces clashed Saturday evening. American and Vietnamese casualties were reported but not specified in the brief.
A U S spokesman said eight B 52 bombers from Guam struck North Vietnamese positions while US destroyers traded fire with a North Vietnamese four gun battery. In another skirmish near Phuoc Dien two Cambodian irregulars engaged a larger North Vietnamese force. No casualties were reported.

Dimmitt plans a nine-acre migrant and permanent farm worker housing complex east of the West Lem Vegetable Co. pickle plant. A $570000 loan and 387280 grant are approved for construction with completion targeted for June 1967. The Castro County Agricultural Association funded the survey and planning.
Brookings Institution findings reported in a book titled Beano: Behavior of the Affluent show 976 high income Americans with earnings from 10008 upward average a 38 hour work week. About a quarter work 60 hours or more and many hold two jobs. Wives also work in 40 percent of $10,000 to $15,000 incomes. at higher incomes, fewer wives work. The tax bite is not driving work reduction. taxes likely cut output less than 2 percent.

A head on collision on SH 214 near Muleshoe at 8 15 am Sunday killed Dewey Frank Rush Jr 41 a Muleshoe resident since 1952. Four others were injured including Carlton Westbrook 58. Robles and Esplanca Lopez were admitted in fair condition. Funeral arrangements were pending.
