In the Lamesa area a 36 year old man Samuel Earl Archer of O'Donnell died at Barton Gin when pulled into 12 inch circular saws while cleaning a balled portion. Horace Harris of Lamesa was buried under three feet of earth up to his neck for 15 minutes when a sewer ditch wall collapsed during pipeline work. Archer's body was recovered after 30 minutes. Harris was dug out in about 14 minutes and transported to a medical facility.
