Autos Dunked In Collision At Drawbridge

In Brunswick Georgia a loaded freighter struck an open drawbridge sending cars into the water. One person was killed and eight were missing while eight others were rescued and hospitalized at Brunswick Memorial. The African Neptune was departing docks on a high tide when it hit the Sidney Lanter Bridge on U S 17.

Hereford Man Sought in Wife's Murder

Hereford police issued a murder warrant for 38 year old Luis Garcia of Lubbock owner of Garcia's Lubbock Tortilla Factory. Victoria Garcia 24 or 25 was found shot to death near a west Hereford dirt road. A second man was detained in Deaf Smith County for possible federal probation violation as investigation traced the couple's movements along U S 385.

Republicans Take County as Lamb Leads in Lubbock

Finance Firm Robbed Of $1,000

A masked robber held up a finance firm, forced a bag of cash, and fled east on 18th Street. Mrs Neyland described the assailant as calm and knowing what he was doing while an employee pursued but could not locate him. Three employees were in the office during the holdup.

Leather bandit robs SIC Finance Co in broad daylight

A man described as 22 years old from Lubbock fled with more than $1,000 after stealing from SIC Finance Co at 1803 Texas St just before 1 pm Tuesday. Police questioned a local man as the investigation continued amid a grimy weather page.
