Odessa package store owner wounded in armed robbery
In Odessa the Baird Package Store was robbed at 3 30 pm Friday. Owner Wendel L Baird 61 was shot in the stomach and in critical condition after emergency surgery at Medical Center Hospital. A bystander was wounded and treated. Leonard Lee Giddens 98 was charged with robbery with firearms and held on 25000 bond.

A 19 year old Louisiana born Reese Air Force Base airman James Lee Vincent and a 19 year old Louisiana woman were found dead about 6 pm Friday in a room at the Rancho Motel Carlisle. An autopsy was ordered by Justice of the Peace Charles Smith. The motel manager discovered the bodies after a resident reported a loud party earlier. The man would have turned 20 on November 12. The woman’s identity had not been released by Friday night.
